Clerk's Department

The Genoa Township Clerk is an elected position that is responsible for: the maintenance and custody of all Township records; maintaining the Township General Ledger; maintaining the Township Ordinance Book; and maintaining the records and sales of plots for the two (2) cemeteries in Genoa. Additionally, the Clerk records, maintains and publishes Township meeting minutes and notices, and issues Firework Display Permits and Brighton Recreation Center Vouchers. All elections held within the boundaries of Genoa Township are managed through the Clerk's office; as well as maintaining voter registration files.

The Clerk's Office is currently seeking Election Inspectors for the 2026 Election Cycle. If you are interested in working the Primary election in August or the General election in November, or both, please contact the Clerk's Office at 810-588-6895 for more information. You may also download the application and return it to the Clerk's Office.

Qualifications:
18 years of age and up, a registered voter, and a resident of the State of Michigan; or, 
16 years of age and up, and a resident of the State of Michigan.

Am I registered to vote?

The Michigan Secretary of State's website at https://webapps.sos.state.mi.us/mivote/ can look up your voter registration. Just fill in your name and date of birth.

Where do I obtain a Michigan Voter Registration Application.

Applicants may register to vote on the Michigan voter site at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/registervoter or you can come to the local Clerk's office to register to vote. NOTE All applicants at the Clerk's office must bring a Michigan photo I.D.

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

How do I obtain an absent voter ballot?

Applications for voting absentee can be filled out at the state of Michigan Voter site at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/avapplication. Or printed from here and returned to the Genoa Township Clerks office.
