Utility Director Greg Tatara

Greg Tatara has been the Utility Director for Genoa Charter Township's Utility Department since March of 2006. Greg is the first in-house Utility Director for Genoa Township.

Prior to working for Genoa Charter Township, Greg was the Deputy Drain Commissioner for Livingston County. Greg has also served as a Board Member of the Livingston County Board of Public Works since 2007. The purpose of this Board is to construct and operate such facilities as water, sewer, refuse, lake improvements, and erosion control systems throughout Livingston County.

Mr. Tatara holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology (magna cum laude) from Gannon University and a Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology from Michigan State University. He is a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Backflow Prevention Association. Greg had numerous publications between 1993 and 1995 regarding bioremediation of carbon tetrachloride using Pseudomonas sp. strain KC.

Greg was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, but moved to Michigan when he was accepted into Michigan State University's graduate program. Greg is married to Michelle, they have two lovely daughters Maddie and Ashleigh, and they reside in Marion Township. In his spare time he enjoys coaching his daughter's softball teams, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
