Township Supervisor Gary McCririe

Gary McCririe was born in Genoa Township and raised in the City of Brighton. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1981 and Michigan State University in 1985. After graduating from college he obtained his real estate license and has been a real estate salesperson / Broker for 24 years.

In 1992 Gary was appointed to the Genoa Township Planning Commission and served there until 2000. In addition, he was appointed to the Genoa Township Board of Trustees in 1994 to fill an unexpired term and won election in 1996 to the same seat. In 2000 Gary ran for and won the seat of Genoa Township Supervisor. He ran again successfully in 2004 and 2008. As Supervisor, Gary is the Chair of all township board meetings as well as joint meetings within the township. He is directly responsible for oversight of the assessing department and the planning department. Under his leadership, the township has built two fire sub-stations, two athletic fields and began the long-term installation of a township-wide emergency siren system.

In addition to being supervisor, Gary is currently the chairman of the Brighton Area Fire Authority, chairman of the Genoa-Oceola Sewer Authority and chairman of the Marion, Howell, Oceola, Genoa (MHOG) Water Authority. Additionally, he has oversight of the utility department which administers the two sewer and one water plant within Genoa Township as well as the sewer plant owned jointly with Oceola Township and the water plant owned jointly with Oceola, Howell and Marion Townships.

Gary is the past chairman of the Brighton Area Schools Community Education Advisory Council, past chairman of the Brighton Area Historical Society, past member of the Brighton Downtown Development Authority and has spoken regionally regarding the installation and long term maintenance of regional sewer facilities. Additionally, Mr. McCririe regularly speaks at the Howell and Brighton Chamber's of Commerce regarding local cooperation and inter-local cooperation.

Gary is the proud father of a daughter, Hailee, a junior at Brighton High and Connor, an 8th grader at Scranton Middle School. In his spare time he enjoys boating, hunting, riding his mountain bike, jogging, attending his daughter's band events and his son's football games.
